Drawing inspiration from Washington’s iconic Union Station this comprehensive public space renovation, the goal of the design is to capture the details of the station in an abstract and modern way. The rhythmic arcading and geometric, coffered ceilings will be expressed in the patterning of fabrics and wall finishes. The contrast of the crisp white ceilings and black metal handrails woven throughout the station will be shown in the metal detailing in light fixtures and hardware. The tangle of the rustic wood and dark steel tracks that lead into the station will be translated into the finishes of the millwork and furniture in the space.
Baskervill is providing architecture, interior design, and MEP engineering for this project which is currently under construction.
