Architecture

The Twin Memorials project recognizes and memorializes the contributions of enslaved persons and disenfranchised populations on the University’s Atlanta and Oxford College campuses. Baskervill worked with the University to conceptualize a design for the memorials that celebrates the untold stories, experiences, and contributions of enslaved individuals and their descendants.

As a first step, the team—alongside Brocade Studio—conducted comprehensive engagement sessions with descendants, community members, students, faculty, staff, and alumni to uncover the stories that need to be told. From there, conceptual designs were developed for consideration and refinement.
