Human Services Building - Hopewell, VA
Aware of the lack of space in its Human Services building, the City of Hopewell issued a notice for the design and construction of a new 35,000-square-foot building to better serve the surrounding community.
Baskervill and Harlan Construction were awarded the project based on their approach to provide a facility that feels warm and inviting for both staff and visitors and allows the City’s social services and health departments to operate efficiently in the delivery of services to its citizens. The design is organized around a central north-south axis lobby that connects the southern Broadway entry with the northern site drop-off motor court and handicapped parking area. This allows for a “see through” effect that provides for easy navigation by the building’s staff and visitors.
