Due to the distinct local culture, the property's location allowed the project to incorporate Asian influences in the design. The most obvious feature is the statue of Guanyin – the bodhisattva associated with compassion, which is commonly known as the "Mercy Goddess."

Baskervill's scope of work included interior design, interior architecture, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). The entire space was fabricated in Richmond, Virginia and staged at Plant Zero. This strategy was developed by Matthew Marsili, interior designer, to minimize interruptions at the hotel property during construction. It also enabled the Owner to travel to Richmond and see the entire space as it would be constructed on-site, allowing for a quick approval process. The space was then disassembled, shipped, and installed within 48 hours, which was feasible due to demolition starting two weeks before installation and completely free standing wall sections.

The success of this project has led to a forthcoming renovation of the entire property, which Baskervill has recently been contracted for the architecture, interior design, and FF&E.

"The end result was the satisfaction of the client. The Owner was amazed to see his space before construction even started," said Marsili. "We look forward to working with the Owner in the very near future as we embark on a complete renovation of the Sheraton LaGuardia East."
